Ryan Scott Prudhomme, Feb. 21, 1986 - Apr. 8, 2013

At 12:01 a.m. this morning, I had the incredible honor of holding my best friend's hand as he slipped from his earthly home into the waiting arms of Jesus. While this tremendous loss brings our hearts wrenching pain, we also are buoyed by God's grace and His truth, and the assurance that our dear Ryan had of heaven.

It was an immense privilege to walk this journey alongside my husband and my hero. He has taught me so much about courage, faith, perseverance, love, hope, and contentment and I am deeply thankful to God for granting me the years that I had with him. So, so thankful.

I am also grateful for your continuous prayers and still covet them for our family, especially for Ryan's beloved son, Colton. We have a long road ahead of us, but we will walk that road with the unshakable hope and peace of Christ.

Well done, good and faithful servant.

"No guilt in life,
No fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me.
From life's first cry
To final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny."

As details about services become finalized, we will release details later today or tomorrow.

To say my heart is broken for you and your family and shock is ever present would be an understatement. I'm so, so sorry! What a man of God is he. As scripture says Ryan is "better by far." We hurt and grieve with you Kendra.

Kendra, I don't have the privilege of knowing you and your family personally, but I have been deeply touched, convicted and inspired through your blog posts during the past year. I have been greatly blessed and challenged by your family's choice to focus on God and find joy in even the most difficult of circumstances.

I am praying that the God of all comfort will surround you and completely fill you with His Presence as you walk this road in the days, months and years ahead, and may He continue to be your all-in-all. You are loved!

At a time like this, words fail us. I am so very sorry for your loss, and I know the ache of losing a spouse at a young age. Part of you goes with him as he leaves.
Ryan left you with a love so huge that it will never leave you. His faith will carry you through when your own may seem to fail you. It is said that God is love, and love is what is left. God.
Take good care of yourself these next days, weeks and months. Its easy to get distracted, to not notice a red light, to be lost in thought. Grief is hard work. Hang on to Jesus hand and walk safely.

I woke this morning with thoughts of you and Ryan and the Road to Emmaus in my Spirit. The words, "Didn't our hearts burn within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the scriptures to us?" in my spirit. Then I opened my computer and saw this blog and began to mourn... Here's a part of that chapter in Luke 24

30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

That is my prayer for you today and in the days to come. We weep with you, and share the hope of His coming again. Love, Jaye

Praying for you and all the family and friends who are grieving.

When I've lost a loved one, I've found my greatest relief in imagining the look on my loved one's face at the moment they see Jesus for the very first time.

Imagine the look on Ryan's face, the moment he first saw Jesus!

It makes me smile, in spite of the loss.

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter,
you will restore my life again;
from the depths of the earth
you will again bring me up.
You will increase my honor
and comfort me once more.

Kendra,
We have never personally met but I have followed your journey since your first post and my heart has been deeply moved. My prayer walks have been increasing filled with thoughts of you and Ryan and Colton. This week particularly, you have been so heavy on my heart. This morning I Cor. 1 was open on my desk. It seemed somehow a testimony of your journey. 'I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who shall also confirm you to the end, blameless...' You and Ryan have been such a testimony to Jesus. Thank you. My heart is broken for the loss of your friend and lover.

I met you and Ryan when you came to our church but had been praying long before. I cannot express how much of an impact you made on my life, you both radiated the Spirit's touch. My heart breaks for you and the family, I know you will miss the physical presence of Ryan but his love remains in your memories and above all in the piece of Ryan and you together, your son Colton. I can visualize Ryan's face as he received his reward and was taken home. I pray I am as gracious as he was when I go home. I am going to keep you and your family in my prayers? Kendra such strength and courage, I am amazed. Your positive attitude is a huge reassurance of our God and His promises. I pray for the times when your faith is tested that you will be surrounded by those who love you and encourage you but also listen to your heart. Thank you for being such a testimony to the world for God’s kingdom. As a nurse this is especially touching for me that your family has been such an awesome example to so many in the medical field.
Colton, know your daddy did not want to leave you. I’m sorry sweetie but he did not have a choice. Jesus wanted your daddy home in Heaven, and since your daddy was so sick it is a good thing, even though it probably doesn’t feel good. Colton you are such a big boy for growing through all of these difficulties. Death is not something to be scared of, it happens to everyone, we cannot stop it but we as Christians have faith and promise of continued life after death in Heaven with Jesus. Hug your mommy tight, and you both will get through life together.
Many are praying for your family.

" If You Could See Me Now "
by Don Moen

Our prayers have all been anwered
I finally arrived
The healing that had been delayed
Has now been realized
No one's in a hurry
There's no schedule to keep
We're all enjoying Jesus
Just sitting at His feet

Is you could see me now
I'm walking streets of gold
If you could see me now
I'm standing tall and whole
If you could see me now
You'd know I've seen His face
If you could see me now
You'd know the pain is erased
You wouldn't want me
To ever leave this place
If you could see me now

My light and temporary trials
Have worked out for my good
To know it brought Him glory
When I misunderstood
Though we've had our sorrows
They can never compare
To what Jesus has in store for us
No language can share

All things are for a reason- Thank you for sharing your life with us and making us see we can strive to be so much better then what we are. God bless you all and may peace be with you.

I know you don't know me, but you have been such a role model for me. Your passion and love of the Lord has rekindled my own relationship with Christ and seeing you fight the battle you have fought, and always coming out of it praising God, even now, has been truly inspiring! I went to Paradise Ranch for a few years and knew who you were and had the privilege of spending a couple weeks when Ryan was there. For a week as a ranch hand, I remember catching Ryan's horse Dodger and feeding him in the morning and when Ryan came to get him, he always had encouraging words and I really learned a lot from him.
It will be a rough road ahead, and from one child of Christ to another, it breaks my heart that you endured so much. I just lost my cousin when he was 25 years old as well as my grandma and grandpa in the span of a month, I can certainly empathize and will keep you and your family in my prayers. Stand strong in the Lord, he will show you the way.

Kendra and Colton, Grace Adventures Family and Friends, we mourn with you. "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words." I Thess 4:13-18

Those who we lost will never be forgotten and those who were ours will be missed but they will always love on in heaven and we only will know that they are in a better place where they are healed and are now with the Lord and Jesus so we will always remember Ryan whenever we look up since he is now up with our Savior looking down on us. Praying for you and your son I'm so sorry for our loss may he live forever

Some of the fondest memories I have of my childhood were those spent at Grace Youth Camp and many included Ryan. He was a good guy. My thoughts are with you and your family.

As I struggled to fall asleep, I have gotten in the habit to pray to our Lord when this happens to me. Last night I was praying as I heard our clock chime midnight. At that time, I was praying for you, Ryan and your family.
Thank you for sharing your life and story with us. I believe that one of God's blessings is that you are now with him and without pain.
Kendra and Colton, may God's blessings be with you during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful letter to Ryan with us.

I am so very sorry. I pray that somehow you are able to find peace over the next weeks/months. After losing my mom in January, I often picture the "footprints" poem and imagine Jesus holding me in his arms and carrying me through the grief. Please remember that you do not have to be the rock of strength for everyone. It's okay to fall into pieces, because Jesus will put you back together even stronger than you started. I will continue to hold you and your family in my prayers. Mary (Pat Scribner's daughter)

Oh Kendra - I was so sorry to hear of this today. I wish I had miraculous words of comfort, but instead I just sit here crying for your family. No one can relate to what you must be feeling, but even as I consider it, I'm filled with overwhelming sorrow. I pray that the Holy Spirit within you will comfort you and fill you with a peace that can only come from God. I pray in those times that you feel so alone, that God will remind you of the great reunion in Heaven which is to come. I pray that when you see glimpses of Ryan in Colton as he grows up, that joy overcomes the heartache. I could never relate to your situation, but even as I try to imagine, my heart hurts for you. May the God of all creation, Jesus our Lord and Savior, draw nearer to you than ever before. May you feel His presence and be comforted by His love.

Psalm 62:1-2
Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

May this passage be true for you. Your family is in our prayers and will be for years to come.

Kendra, I am sorry that Ryan has left this earth. He is at peace, but his family and friends mourn. You have such a great spirit and belief about you that there is no doubt in my mind that you will continue to love life and share that with your son. 12 1/2 years ago I lost my husband suddenly. He left behind a 6 yr. old son and a 4 yr. old daughter. My daughter (Katie)had the pleasure of having you as her Spanish 1 teacher at Montague a couple of years ago. If you ever need the perspective of someone who missed/misses their daddy, feel free to reach out to her. She'd be glad to help. Please know that your friends and family are willing to help with whatever you need, even if it seems too much or too silly to ask. God bless you and your family in the days to come. Your strength and faith shine through!

Kendra, we don't know each other but I am praying for you and your little one. For all our time here on earth, God has a plan for each of us. He loves us, holds us, comforts us and he's doing that with Ryan in Heaven now. I know it is hard for us to understand without the one we love, but we will rejoice with him someday in the place God has set aside for us. I will be thinking of you, your son and family in the coming days. I am blessed to have been able to get to know you and your family through Ryan's story and am a better person to know God through you.

Dear Kendra:
I never had the privilege to meet Ryan and you personally but had met your in-laws as they came to my church, Grace Bible Fellowship of Pinellas Park, FL where my husband is the pastor, around two years ago. Since that time I have been following your journey and I have been partnering with you in prayer. Also the Church in Brazil, where we are from, also have and will continuing to pray for you. As part of the Body we suffer with you and mourn but not as the one who have no hope! May the Lord keep your heart and the heart of Colton specially. Continuing to pray for you until we are all together with our Lord and our loved ones.

What memories you have made! Cherish these, draw from them, lean not only on those memories but on the friends and family who have who have a whole other treasure trove of memories to lift you up. Use all of them... the good, the bad, the ugly and the uplifting! You had in the short while the two (and then three) of you were together something a lot of folks go through their entire life without...a soul mate. You three were indeed blessed!

At times such as this I frequently think upon the words of Psalm 116:15 that read:
"Precious in the sight of the LORD [is] the death of his saints."
In my own journey I have found a lot of comfort in the words penned by Spurgeon on this verse. they are as follows:

"Be it known that while we are sorrowing Christ is rejoicing. His prayer is, "Father, I will that they also whom thou hast given me be with me where I am," and in the advent of every one of his own people to the skies he sees an answer to that prayer, and is, therefore, glad. He beholds in every perfected one another portion of the reward for the travail of his soul, and he is satisfied in it. We are grieving here, but he is rejoicing there.
The last reason I shall give why the death of a saint is precious is this—because it is a precious sheep folded, a precious sheaf harvested, precious vessel which had been long at sea brought into harbour, a precious child which had been long at school to finish his training brought home to dwell in the Father's house for ever. God the Father sees the fruit of his eternal love at last ingathered: Jesus sees the purchase of his passion at last secured: the Holy Spirit sees the object of his continual workmanship at last perfected: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit rejoice that now the blood bought ones are free from all inbred sin, and delivered from all temptation. The battle's fought, and the victory is won forever."
What a blessed hope for each one who has placed their trust in Christ, to go from world of suffering, fraught with all the perils of sin and slip into the outstretched arms of a waiting Saviour!
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
Shalom, David
